Asking questions can help talking feel more natural, and also makes the other person feel respected and listened to.

It may be useful to have some preprepared questions in your head for when these moments come up. Some good examples are: 

How are you today? 

Do you enjoy your job? 

What is your favourite colour, or hobby?

Remember! 

  • You can ask just one question and wait for the person to answer. 
  • It’s ok to take your time and pause when needed – conversations don’t have to be fast. 
  • You don’t need to take part in any conversation that makes you feel uncomfortable – in these cases, it is ok to walk away.
