A food intolerance means your body can’t digest certain foods or ingredients. It’s not usually serious, but eating those foods can make you feel unwell.

A food intolerance is different to a food allergy, which causes symptoms such as itchy skin, wheezing or swelling of the lips, face and eyes.

Common symptoms of a food intolerance include:

  • Diarrhea
  • Bloating
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • If you are experiencing any of these, it is important to seek medical attention. If you ever struggle to breathe, call 999.
